In addition to our daily extraordinary library happenings, there are other exciting special events that promote the joy of reading and the use of libraries.

Scholastic Book Fairs

Scholastic Book Fairs are sponsored by our PTO and held in the fall and spring of each year. Each child will have the opportunity to purchase Book Fair items during school hours. Parents will also be invited to preview and make purchases in the fall before Bedtime Story Night and in the spring during Family Fun Night, another exciting event sponsored by our PTO. For more information, click Scholastic Book Fairs.

Home/School Reading Connections

The BUCK A BOOK campaign hosted through the York County Literacy Council will again take place in the month of January. Learners pledge to read an attainable number of books in return for friends and family monetarily sponsoring their efforts. Prizes are awarded by the York County Literacy Council through their corporate sponsors. The Kickoff Celebration will be held at the York Galleria with storytelling and other fun family events. Look for official information to come home in the new year. What a wonderful way to make local community connections and foster young budding philanthropists as their efforts help adults learn how to read and write!

"Read to Them: Creating a Culture of Literacy in Every Home"

Once again, our One District, One Book program will occur at all four elementary buildings. Every family will get a copy of the same book (Shhhhhh!!!! Sorry-can't reveal the title! It's a secret until January!) and will be asked to read a chapter or two a night together at home throughout the month along with all staff members, including the bus drivers and cafeteria personnel! A variety of activities will take place in the classroom regarding the book and the ever popular trivia questions will be asked during morning announcements. Your child will take ownership in being able to answer them! Reading aloud provides such powerful benefits in that it helps your child become become a better reader while spending cozy time together! With your help and support, we can build a community of readers!
